Our First Christmas in Scotland

We are reminded of the glorious riches of grace given to us at Christ's expense. We shared a joyous, pleasant holiday in celebration of the one who descended from heaven and was born as a babe in a manger. Christ Jesus "made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:7-11).

Our first Christmas in Scotland was wonderful! The grandparents jointly gave each of the boys bikes and helmets. They're not so great outside yet, because of the ice. The hall, however, proved a great expressway.  

Gifts from extended family were opened on Christmas Eve, and then we enjoyed a festive meal.

In the evening, we attended a Carol service. Cooper is on the far right. His friend, Jude, is leaning over talking to him. 

Stocking time! These were brought from the States. 

After the boys examined the contents of their stockings, we opened gifts from one another.

Then, it was on to Christmas brunch. Scones+Cream+Preserves+Sausage+Fruit=Delicious!

We spent the afternoon and evening at the Laings where we had a traditional Scottish Christmas dinner.

We drove to Glasgow and visited the Keefes on the 26th-28th. Fellowship with Jonathan, Judith, and Caleb is always welcomed, and it was a delight to sit under Jonathan's teaching on Sunday morning. Jonathan asked Nick to share his testimony during the service. We were greatly encouraged by our visit with these dear friends.

We are so thankful for our families who helped make the holidays special for us from afar and for our awesome friends here in Scotland who opened their homes and allowed us to celebrate with them.
