School Days

The Reid School for Boys officially opened its doors in 2009 and is going strong. We have one full time student, one part time, and one on the waiting list. Nick has been a great source of accountability. He's especially good at encouraging me to start at 9 am everyday regardless of any play dates or housework that could interfere. I won't go into ALL of the details of our routine, but I thought I'd put a few photos and captions to highlight our school days.

We've been working through Sinclair Ferguson's The Big Book of Questions and Answers. After reading Genesis 2, the boys worked on self portraits.

Cooper is school age in Scotland but only preschool age in the States. We've decided to keep him on track with the States but are continuing with his Kindergarten level work. 

Noah practices writing while I help Cooper with math.

I've decided to have a music lesson once a week in addition to singing each day and learning a hymn a week. We've been studying dynamics. Here the boys are demonstrating "fortissimo." 

Caleb disappeared during school time, and I discovered him perched in his window sill.

We do LOTS of reading. The boys cuddled up for Peter Pan.

The boys made bubbles in continuation of our "Experiences with air."

Cracker starts with "C."

Caleb was the first to discover that one can make a lot more bubbles by blowing into the straw while it's submerged in the bubble solution.

Maybe I should start a blog about our school adventures. Hmmm....
