We have been displaced and living out of suitcases, since we moved out of our townhome on July 31. Things were unsettled before that time as we were preparing for the move. Even though we don't yet have a "home," we're trying to set some type of routine. The boys are getting back on nap schedules. Nick has started class. He leaves just after lunch and returns around 6:30 or 7. Cooper is keen on doing schoolwork (which is fairly difficult, because I didn't pack any supplies for Germany). He's really enjoyed using Abigail and Beulah's chalkboard. Bedtime has been pretty much set though the boys struggled some in Glasgow. Last night, however, it was nearly bedtime when we returned from the grocery store. The landlord, his wife, and another man (their son, perhaps) were outside, so we stayed out past bedtime. The landlord and his wife love children and seemed to really enjoy our boys. The kids ran in circles and took turns on a little tricycle that can go in reverse and has a manuel brake (very cool). Caleb crashed a few times, and the landlord's wife would brush his hands, blow on his hands, ramble on and on in German (all I caught was, "Das ist gut, das ist gut"), and then swoop him up and spin him around. He found this quite amusing and started "pretending" to fall and hurt his hands. He would place his hands on the ground and then run to her with hands raised high and lips blowing.
Top left is a picture of the landlord's wife and the boys. The picture quality is not great, but you can see a bit of the action. Her hand is on her forehead, and she's saying, "Oi, oi, oi."
Again, picture quality is poor. Noah's a blur, Cooper's riding fast, Caleb has a trash can, die Frau is bewildered (and loving it!)
The boys watched the landlord hook a trailer to his tractor (pictured below). We're on a main road, and several tractors drive by daily.
This morning the big boys ate orange juice popsicles they made with Nick. I think Aberdeen will be too chilly for this activity. During the day the weather in Freiburg has been warm but the nights are cooler.
