The Laings surprised our boys with a Gingerbread house kit on their Thanksgiving visit. Such fun! In our experience, the people in Scotland are incredibly warm and generous. It seems to be the norm for guests to bring the host a gift (sweeties, beverage, etc.). Hosts are also quick to offer tea and goodies to their guests. We may be on the North Sea, but we're still enjoying Southern hospitality.
The big boys thoroughly enjoyed decorating.
Caleb scored a load of candy before Nick hauled him off.
This is the finished product.
We enjoyed looking at it for about a day before it was devoured.
Things moved quickly from nice and neat to this:

Blair, Remember your history of the South. Most of our families came over from Scotland, Ireland and Germany. This is from where our accents, music and hospitality came. We enjoyed watching the gingerbread house evolve then devolve. The boys will have wonderful memories of their Scottish years. Thanks for including all of us. Happy Holidays and God Bless you every one. Yours In Christ, Donna and Stan
